Seven Ashanti Region Schools Qualify for National Junior Science and Maths Quiz
Seven Junior High Schools from the Ashanti Region have earned their spots at the national stage of the Junior Science and Maths Quiz (JSMQ). The qualifiers—Matta Devi School, Kyere Educational Complex, St. Louis Jubilee School, Kumasi Best Brain Academy, New World School, Good Shepherd R/C JHS, and Galaxy Sterling Communication School—prevailed in an intense regional competition, showcasing their knowledge and competitive spirit.
Matta Devi Basic School secured its qualifications with an impressive score of 45 points, beating Divine Mission Academy, who scored 21 points, and Rejoice National Academy with 20 points. Kyere Educational Complex also made its way to the national stage, earning 35 points to defeat Christ Model Academy, who scored 29, and Manuel International School with 24 points.
St. Louis Jubilee School achieved one of the highest scores of the qualifiers, amassing 52 points to beat Peniel Academy, who finished with 27.5 points, and Global Community School, scoring 31 points. Kumasi Best Brain Academy joined the lineup of national contenders after a closely contested match, securing 39 points and overcoming SOS Hermann Gmeiner, who scored 28.5 points, and Trinity Foundation School with 34.5 points.
New World School dominated its round with an outstanding score of 57 points, outscoring Supreme Montessori School, who had 18 points, and Celestial Hope Educational Complex, with 13 points.
Good Shepherd R/C JHS made a powerful impression by earning 53 points, comfortably beating Nana Quainoo Memorial School, who scored 34 points, and St. Anne’s Anglican School, who managed 10 points. Galaxy Sterling Community School completed the Ashanti Region’s representation, qualifying with 39 points in a win over Promise International School with 27 points and Adventist Academy with 26 points.
Meanwhile, KNUST Basic School, champions of the 2023 edition, automatically advance to the nationals, bringing the total number of schools to eight. These schools will represent the Ashanti Region at the national level, where they will compete in this year's Junior Science and Maths Quiz academic competition.
