Six Greater Accra Region Schools Secure Slot in 2024 JSMQ National Championship

Six schools from the Greater Accra Region have secured their spots in the upcoming 2024 Junior Science and Maths Quiz (JSMQ) National Championship. These schools include Tema Parents’ Association School, Atomic Hills 2 Basic School, Star Holy Kingdom Academy, Ancilla JHS, Anchor Educational Institute, and Glorious Child School.

The regional qualifiers, held from October 7 to October 17, 2024, at the IDL Centre in Kwabenya, showcased exceptional academic talent and fierce competition among the region’s best Junior High Schools.

In the contest, Tema Parents’ Association School led the qualifiers with an impressive score of 44 points, which secured their place in the national championship by defeating Ekis Montessori School and Rebhad International School, who scored 15 and 19 points, respectively. Atomic Hills 2 Basic School matched Tema Parents’ score with 44 points, winning their contest against Goshen Community School and Divine Grace Academy, who managed 26 points.

The path to the nationals was similarly competitive for Star Holy Kingdom Academy, which advanced with a score of 24 points after narrowly defeating Crown Prince Academy, which followed closely at 22 points, and KAF International School, which scored 14 points. Ancilla JHS earned their spot with a solid 39 points, outperforming Delsi Montessori School and St. Joseph’s R/C in Fise, which scored 16 and 15.5 points, respectively.

Anchor Educational Institute also clinched a national spot with 37 points, prevailing over Accra Grammar School and Richester School Complex, which scored 27 and 30 points, respectively. Glorious Child School rounded off the Greater Accra qualifiers with 39 points, securing victory over Ayikuma Methodist Basic School, which scored 33 points, and Nautical Goodwill School with 11 points.

The six schools now proceed to the national championship, where they will join other top-performing schools from across Ghana. The Greater Accra representatives have demonstrated formidable academic skills and are eager to bring home the national title in the 2024 Junior Science and Maths Quiz.
